The city of Toowoomba is considered to be the inland focal point of an economic region of some 300,000 people as it serves a large portion of inland Queensland and northern New South Wales. A recognised centre for quality education at all levels, Toowoomba also enjoys a breadth and depth of medical services. A wide range of legal, accounting, financial, banking and real estate services make the city a favoured service centre. As does its transport, rural manufacture and supply industries. Popularly known for its impressive parks, gardens and pleasant climate, Toowoomba is situated on the edge of the Great Dividing Range at an altitude of 600-700m.
